Comprised of a bowl-like seat and a separate, slightly angled drum-shaped base, these chairs can be set in many different ways, making the design one of the most versatile you'll find. Sizing rules

While there is some discrepancy in size between brands, there are general guidelines in the sizing of the chairs. A basic papasan chair measures around 45 inches in diameter, and is perfect for one adult. This is the size of the traditional papasans, and the most popular.

A papasan made for two can be called a mamasan, a double papasan, or a papasan loveseat. No matter what name you give it, the dimensions are about the same. Most mamasans measure about 45 by 65 inches - perfect for curling up and watching a movie with your favorite person.

A junior papasan is perfect for kids. At around 36 inches in diameter, a junior papasan will offer your child a comfortable place to curl up and read a book or work on homework. Great for a child's bedroom, playroom, or any room, the size of this papasan is ideal for kids and some adults.

Baby papasans (or babysans) are made especially for the infant set. Gaining popularity in the baby world, papasans have been turned into bouncy chairs and infant swings, proving that there's a comfortable papasan chair for the needs of your entire family!

Other types

In addition to traditional papasans, papasan rocker and swivel chairs are becoming popular. While supporting a smaller seat than a traditional papasan, these chairs still offer the comfort of the papasan design.
